What is the new D-link DHP 540 wireless phone?

The DHP 540 is a wireless LAN (WLAN) phone that enables you to make and receive calls over an 802.11g or 802.11b WLAN connected to your Whaleback network. It includes a large, bright color LCD screen that displays call information such as call history, address book entries and caller ID numbers. The Wi-Fi Phone also supports several other calling features including redial, mute and hold. This phone can detect any 802.11a/b/g signal and store a WLAN profile in the phone for easy reconnection whenever the phone is in range. Think of the DHP 540 as a great headquarters phone for mobile workers (e.g., as roaming secretaries that cannot miss a call or a phone in open warehouse or manufacturing areas out of reach from the CAT5 cable plant). It would also be great for use at home over a personal WiFi network or in public locations where there is free access and a log-ins screen is not required to connect to the service. The DHP 540 is available now and the activation fee is $325.
