PORTSMOUTH, NH. - Whaleback Systems™ has appointed Don Hausman as senior director of product management and marketing, where he is responsible for driving product feature set definition and go to market activities. Hausman is responsible for analyzing the telephony needs of Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) and translating them into new capabilities for Whaleback's CrystalBlue Voice Service™, a managed service that provides SMBs all-inclusive unlimited local and long-distance calling at one low price.
Hausman has over 15 years experience in the telecommunications and data networking industries, and nearly nine years experience in IP telephony. Mark Galvin, co-founder, president and CEO of Whaleback said, "Don brings to Whaleback not only a solid, in-depth understanding of broadband voice over IP, but also an aptitude for gathering, quantifying and prioritizing the requirements of telephony customers and translating this information into a well-defined market assessment, business case and service strategy. He will not only help us define and manage the evolution of the CrystalBlue Voice Service, but will also work closely with partners to drive sales and broad market acceptance of our managed broadband VoIP service."
Hausman was the ninth employee of NBX Corporation, which delivered the world's first commercially available IP-PBX platform and IP telephony applications serving SMBs. NBX was acquired by 3Com Corporation in 1999 for $90 million. During his tenure, Hausman served as the product line manager and contributed across three core areas: product management, product marketing and business development for inbound and outbound OEM and third-party solution partnerships.
Previously, Hausman held sales management positions with Funk Software, a provider of remote access technologies, RADIUS servers and network management utilities. He has also held product marketing and sales management positions with Axis Communications, a provider of multi-protocol, network-enabled peripherals, and has served as an account manager for Stream, Inc. (also known as Corporate Software). Hausman holds a Bachelors of Arts degree with a concentration in economics and business management from the University of Rhode Island.
